Dark Circles
Dark circles are a common cosmetic concern that can affect individuals of all ages and skin types. They appear as dark or discoloured areas, usually underneath the eyes, and can make a person look tired, stressed, or older than they actually are.
Several factors contribute to the development of dark circles. One major cause is the thinning of the skin in the under-eye area. This thin skin allows the blood vessels to be more visible, resulting in a bluish tint. Additionally, as we age, the collagen and elastin fibres in the skin decrease, making the under-eye area even more prone to sagging and the appearance of dark circles.
Genetics can also play a role in the development of dark circles. Some individuals have a family history of dark under-eye circles, making them more likely to experience the condition themselves. Other contributing factors include lack of sleep, fatigue, dehydration, allergies, nasal congestion, excessive sun exposure, and certain lifestyle choices like smoking or excessive alcohol consumption.
